As the story depicts the relationship between inner and outer beauty, most of the music from the movie is very spiritual in nature but mixed with aspects of traditional Bollywood music that appealed to the masses then and now. It was no wonder that music directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal won the “Filmfare Best Music Director Award” for the OST. Also, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar took the title song “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” to the top 10 of the Indian “Geetmala” charts for 1977. The lyrics for the album are by Pandit Narendra Sharma (who was also nominated as Best Lyricist for the song “Satyam Shivam Sundaram”), Anand Bakshi and Vitthal Bhai Patel.
My favourite from this soundtrack include “Satyam Shivam Sundaram”, “Chanchal Sheetal Nirmal Komal” and “Bhor Bhaye Panghat Pe”. My verdict: Four stars.

4. Who Aurat Hai Too Mehbooba – Lata Mangeshkar and Nitin Mukesh
Side Two
1. Chanchal Sheetal Nirmal Komal – Mukesh and Chorus
2. Suni Jo Unke Aane Ki Aahat – Lata Mangeshkar and Chorus

ReplyDeleteI think this is the second movie (after Bobby) LP did for RK movies. Great score and great recording. As can be seen, Lata dominates the entire album and how!
Thanks Veen for this and the earlier ones uploaded in my absence.
Regds / Babu
By the Veen, can you please check if it is "Shor Bhaye" or "Bhor Bhaye". Bhor (early morning) fits better in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteRegds / Babu
Welcome back Babu. Hope you didn't work too hard....if you did, please sit back and enjoy the music.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out my mistake. This shows how good my hindi is. This scenario reminds me of the song from Milan where Sunil Dutt is teaching Nutan how to sing SAWAN KA MAHINA......SOR nahin, SHOR! LOL.
Imagine the hero not even seeing her face while her curvaceous body is visible BHOR BHAYE at the PANGHAT. How incredulous one can get! No wonder then that the movie did not do well, notwithsanding the shapely Zeenie baby. Later, it would take a Mandakini with a blouseless sari to give RK a hig hit in Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
ReplyDeleteLata's title song in SSS was a hig hit.
I know Nasir Saab. Wasn't that a hoot??? Obviously RK did not give the movie goers much credit in the grey mass area!
ReplyDeleteYou can say that again Veen!
